Pocket Reminder Privacy Policy

Effective and updated: October 10, 2026 · Version 2026-10-10

We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the Pocket Reminder iOS app (the “App”) processes, why it does so, and how you can manage that data.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the App and its legal-information website. We do not operate our own user-account database or advertising platform. The App processes data only as needed for reminders, sign-in, synchronization and purchase verification. Visiting the website does not require signing in or entering reminders; the website does not receive reminder data from the App.

2. Data we process

2.1 Reminder data

When you create or edit a reminder, the App processes its content, original input, reminder times, recurrence rules, quiet-hours rules, enabled status, and creation and update times. These are used to display, edit, schedule, synchronize and restore reminders.

  • Guest mode: the App stores reminders on the current device and does not synchronize them to CloudKit. iOS device backups depend on your system settings and do not replace in-app synchronization.
  • Sign in with Apple: reminders belonging to that Apple identity are stored on the current device and, when iCloud is available and synchronization succeeds, in the user’s private iCloud CloudKit database for synchronization and recovery. Guest reminders move to that identity only after you explicitly confirm the migration.

Private CloudKit data is not stored on a server operated by the developer.

2.2 Sign in with Apple information

When you choose Sign in with Apple, the App receives a stable user identifier from Apple to distinguish identities. It requests a name only during initial authorization, to display a nickname in the App. The App does not request your Apple account email address.

The Apple user identifier and that identity’s nickname are stored in the device keychain. The guest nickname is stored in local preferences. You can change them independently. They are not uploaded to a developer-operated server or used for advertising, profiling or cross-app tracking.

2.3 Speech recognition data

When you actively use voice input, the App captures audio for that input after obtaining microphone and speech-recognition permission, and converts it to text using Apple Speech. Depending on Apple’s implementation, audio may be sent to Apple servers for processing.

The App does not save recordings. Recognized text is used only to fill in and create reminders, and is stored locally or in private iCloud according to your selected identity. You can refuse microphone or speech-recognition permission and continue using text input.

2.4 Notifications, alarms and widgets

The App sends reminders through iOS local notifications, placing reminder content and times in pending notifications on the device. On systems supporting AlarmKit, enabling alarms requires separate system alarm permission; the system processes alarm content, times and status. Permissions are managed by the system. If you disable them, reminders can remain saved in the App but may not appear or sound at the scheduled time. The App does not use remote advertising push notifications.

For Home Screen widgets, the App stores a reminder-display snapshot in a local App Group shared container. It includes content, rules needed for scheduling, enabled status and language, but not recordings or original input text. Notifications, alarms and widgets may display reminder content on the Lock Screen or Home Screen. You can control this through system settings and by removing widgets. The app passcode lock does not hide this content.

2.5 Preferences and local identifiers

Settings including your default input method, language, accepted policy version, random guest identifier, reminder ownership and last synchronization time are stored locally to retain your choices and separate data belonging to different identities.

2.6 Contacting us

When you email us, we receive the email address, message and attachments you choose to provide, and use them only to handle your question or feedback. Do not send passwords, verification codes or sensitive information unrelated to the issue.

2.7 App passcode lock

The lock’s random salt, derived passcode and recovery-answer verification values, recovery question and failed-attempt state are stored only in the local keychain. They are not uploaded to a developer server or synchronized to iCloud. The App does not save plaintext passcodes or answers. The lock protects access to the App on this device; it is not independent encryption of reminder data and does not hide notification or widget content. If you forget the passcode, you can reset it by verifying the recovery answer or reauthenticating the same Apple account. Resetting does not delete reminders. Turning off the lock or deleting current account data clears the corresponding local lock settings.

2.8 Purchases and membership entitlements

When you purchase Pocket Reminder Plus, restore purchases or refresh entitlements, the App receives product identifiers, transaction verification results, subscription expiry and revocation information through Apple StoreKit and verifies them on the device to determine access to paid features. Apple handles payments and the App Store purchasing account. The App does not receive card numbers or other payment credentials, operate a developer-hosted transaction database, or upload purchase records to developer servers.

2.9 Website visits

The legal-information website uses static pages and does not provide account sign-in, payments, reminder entry or advertising analytics. To deliver pages and secure hosting, the hosting provider may process necessary access records, including IP addresses, browser request information and access times, and retain them under its service rules. The website does not embed advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking scripts. Emails you send to us are handled as described above.

3. Sharing and third-party services

The App does not sell personal information or integrate third-party advertising, data-broker or cross-app tracking SDKs. The following Apple services may process relevant data to provide features:

  • Sign in with Apple: authentication;
  • iCloud and CloudKit: storing and synchronizing reminders belonging to an Apple identity;
  • Speech: speech recognition when you use voice input;
  • iOS local notifications and AlarmKit: scheduling and displaying reminders or alarms on the device;
  • WidgetKit and App Group: sharing necessary reminder-display data locally;
  • App Store and StoreKit: purchases, restoration and entitlement verification.

Apple’s processing is governed by its Privacy Policy and relevant service terms. Storage and processing locations for Apple cloud services may vary by service, account region and settings; the App does not promise that all processing occurs within mainland China. The website hosting provider processes requests only as needed for delivery and security and does not thereby gain access to app reminders, passcodes or recovery answers. We do not provide your data to other third parties except as necessary to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests from competent authorities, or protect users and service security.

4. Retention

  • Guest reminders: kept on the current device until you delete them, clear app data or uninstall the App. They usually cannot be recovered after uninstallation.
  • Apple-identity reminders: a local copy is kept on the device; a private iCloud copy remains until you delete the reminders or use Delete account and all data.
  • Apple identifier and nickname: stored in the device keychain. Signing out removes the current sign-in identifier saved by the App; the nickname can be reused on later sign-in. The guest nickname is kept in local preferences. iOS manages keychain retention after uninstallation.
  • Feedback emails: retained as needed to complete communication and handling, or as required by applicable law.

Signing out ends the current identity’s session without deleting its reminders. Signing in with the same Apple identity can restore data that was successfully synchronized to private iCloud. Deleting account data does not delete purchase records retained by Apple under its rules and does not cancel subscriptions. Manage App Store subscriptions separately.

5. Security

We use the iOS sandbox, system keychain and CloudKit access controls and transport protections to safeguard data and minimize unnecessary processing. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device and Apple account secure.

6. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • View and change your nickname in settings;
  • View, edit, disable or delete reminders;
  • Refuse microphone, speech-recognition or notification permission, or disable them in iOS Settings;
  • Sign out of the current identity;
  • Use Delete account and all data in settings to delete the current Apple identity’s reminders on the device and in private iCloud;
  • Manage or revoke the App’s Apple sign-in authorization in iOS Settings under Apple Account and Sign in with Apple;
  • Email us to request access, correction, deletion or an explanation of data processing relating to the App.

7. Children’s personal information

The App is not specifically intended for children under fourteen. Users under fourteen should use it with a guardian’s consent and guidance and avoid unnecessary sensitive personal information in reminders or feedback. If a guardian believes a child has provided inappropriate information, contact us by email so we can address it.

8. Policy updates

If features or data practices change materially, we will update this policy and provide reasonable notice, such as an in-app message. The updated policy applies from its stated effective date.
